Still day 15

Yes, it's true. Sigh....

Day 15 30 March

Today, rain stopped play. However Rob, Stuart and Arthur turned up for a site meeting and later the skip lorry arrived to pick up the full one and leave an empty. Interesting to see how the skips are changed. The full one is picked up and placed on top of the empty one in the lorry. Both are then put in place on the ground and the full one is then taken up on to the lorry. it's a bit like one of these puzzles where you have to get the wooden rings in the right order on the pole.

Day 14 Monday 29 March

Most of these photos were taken from inside, hence "view from a room", as 1) it was raining today, and 2) the ground was a mess as the concrete was slopping everywhere. The team worked like trojans getting the cement out of the lorry and into the base.

Saturday 27th March

The sun came out and more of the wall nearest to the neighbour and at the far end went up. The weekend doesn't promise to stay fair unfortunately.

Day 12 Friday 26 March

Friday was wet! We saw the grass become browner and browner as the day wore on. The garden also became a builder's yard fine style. I thin it will get worse before it gets better! In this selection of shots we see Arthur, as busy as a man can be on a construction site without a tool in hand. Ross is still in the drain hole, pressure testing the system. No jokes please about the demands I may be making on it.

Day 11 Thursday 25th March

Today was more about drains than the building going up, tho' the wall on the neighbour's side was being built. In the shots here you can see the lovely Ross, who is actually a joiner to trade and not a gravedigger, getting to grips with the gnarly problem which is our broken sewage pipe. The very spot at which we want to make a junction with the new pipe from the granny flat, had an old leak. They say God works in mysterious ways. In these action shots you can see Ross being ably helped by Ian (in the hoody) and Johnny.

Wednesday 24 March

We'll soon have the shell up. I've taken pics of the drains in case building control need to see them.

Tuesday 23 March

Well it's day 9 and the guys are confident that by next week it will be looking really like a house.

Monday 22 March 2010

granny Flat Days 7 and 8

The guys worked a half day on Saturday so I'm including Saturday's work with today's. The thing is coming out of the ground. Scary. No major hitches as yet, except the for the debate about PVC v timber framed windows and doors.

Friday 19 March 2010

Friday 19th Day 6

Walls are now going up and a patio area is being prepared. You can't see it because it is hidden under the rest of the hedge which is now down.

Thursday 18 March 2010

Thursday

Today has seen the weather deteriorate but the rain never really came to much. However the guys have protected the bricks in the event that it gets wet during the night. From left to right we have Ian, Andy, Craig, Chris and Stewart. Stewart is responsible for getting the walls up. He is the brickie in other words.

Wednesday, Day 4

This is pretty much the state of things at close of play on Wednesday. The crew are driving ahead with the clearing of the ground for the new build. Bye bye shrubs and borders.

Day 3

This is where we got to on Tuesday. I hope to post today's work before today is out and then keep up to date with the work. That's the plan anyway. The people standing chatting are from left to right, Stewart, a newly qualified architect from Rob's firm, Arthur the builder, and Rob Lukas our architect.
